No, that’s not how you spell MITH. In the dictionary it’s spelt MYTH.

But my MITH is different. It’s the name of a town – a town full of zanny characters who go right off the deep end when a DRAGON arrives.

Like most people they panic. We’ve all done that, it’s pretty normal. For the townspeople of Mith there wasn’t any need. The DRAGON in their market square was a rather ZEN like character, but it took them a little while to discover that.

This story has a lot of themes:

Fear of strangers (xenophobia)
Facing one’s fears
Learning to think for one’s self
Needing to be part of a group or community.

This book was used widely in Australian schools. If there’s any teachers out there who still have Lesson Plans based on THE DRAGON OF MITH I’d love to hear from them.
